Noureddin Bongo , born on March 9, 1992 in Paris. Educated in the prestigious establishments of Summer Fields and Eton College in the United Kingdom, Noureddin Bongo Valentin studied political science and international relations at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and perfected his skills in financial strategy and analysis at the London Business School. His father Ali Bongo Ondimba became President of the Gabonese Republic in 2009.

 

In 2012, Noureddin Bongo launched a restaurant chain in Gabon: Mayena Foods .

In 2014, Noureddin Bongo began his career at Olam International in Libreville, where he became Deputy Managing Director. He then specialized in agro-industry.

 

He is involved in the expansion of the Gabon Special Economic Zone (GSEZ), an essential part of the Gabonese economy, through pioneering projects based on the local processing of raw materials in order to create more added value.

 

In 2017, the new deep-water port of Owendo was completed, a project in which Noureddin Bongo was heavily involved.

 

On December 5, 2019, Noureddin Bongo was appointed to the position of General Coordinator of Presidential Affairs within the presidency of the Gabonese Republic. In June 2020, under the instructions of Ali Bongo Ondimba, Noureddin Bongo then led a taskforce on Gabon's domestic debt which would cancel two thirds of the latter, i.e. more than 623 billion CFA francs out of 1030 billion audited.

 

From January 2021, he coordinated Gabon's three-year plan 2021-2023 called the Transformation Acceleration Plan (PAT).

 

This plan has 20 priority projects aimed at diversifying the Gabonese economy in order to reduce the weight of the oil sector in the country's GDP, ensure greater food independence by producing more than 50% of consumption locally and reduce the poverty rate in the country by 10 points.

 

On September 13, 2021, Noureddin resigned from his position as general coordinator of presidential affairs, to return to the private sector and move to Europe.

 

In November 2020, Noureddin Bongo and his wife created the OTIMA association (“the heart” in the Téké language) for the defense of Children's Rights in Gabon.

 

OTIMA works alongside civil society actors, international institutions and the Gabonese government for the promotion and effective application of Children's Rights, particularly for the most vulnerable children: donations and restoration of orphanages, coverage of school fees and health costs, raising awareness among the population about the cause of children and advocacy with public authorities, organization of events aimed at the fulfilment of the most disadvantaged...

The #FreeNoureddinAndSylvia movement was created to defend Sylvia and Noureddin Bongo, who have been arbitrarily detained since August 29, 2023.

In the face of torture and the lack of justice, we join our voices to demand their immediate release.

Our commitment is voluntary and collective, aiming to mobilize the media, public opinion and international bodies to denounce their situation and make their voices heard.
